All must be well in the Horse World!! The fact that we are now in the 3rd week of Feb and in the AHS prime time, it is very strange that this time last year my mail box was full with all kinds of letters. The last number of weeks I have tried to be more positive and up beat, but I have to say this has not got the horse world jumping. So let’s see if I make a noise again about who is running the horse world in SA? I was told last year that there is this body call SAEC, but to date I have not seen any mail to say who they are and what they are doing for the horse world in SA. I have to say that it looks like the rest of the horse world are also just going about their own thing. Just because the Human World is in one big turmoil, does not say the people who own horses should just push the best animal in the world one side. A little news from my side. At last I have a horse that at any time of day I can get on and ride and is just so fantastic and she is just a very big darling of a horse. Will post a pic to prove this when I get someone to take one. Well that is all in my very early Monday morning brain so if you have anything to say - send.
So let’s take this good news and have fun this week. If you have anything to add, just mail me and in this way we all can work as one and build a better world for the horse. alan@equestriansociety.org
HELP: Can any one please help me as I have a Jessy James Western Saddle and do not know if it's to small for me. What I need to know is how one works out the size and also the stirrups length as when I sit it does feel like the seat is may be one size to small and the way I understand the riders leg should be straight. Please help as I now have a nice big mare to ride and would like to do so more often. Mail me at alan@honystable.com If you need any help mail alan@honystable.com
HELP NEEDED?:
Hi Alan,
Can you put this out on the next newsletter for me.
I am the mother of a competitive junior rider and had a bad experience with a runaway horse a few years ago and have been too nervous to ride again. My daughter would love it if I could ride with her again when she goes out on hacks. I am looking for a retired, absolute darling, to take me on a quiet gentle hack once or twice a week. He would be really loved and cared for as are all our other horses. He would have 12 hectares of good grazing, 8 special friends, a lovely stable and blanket for winter, be given carrots and apples every evening, in return for these few safe rides a week. I am having confidence building lessons which are great, (Shumba Valley Equestrian Centre) and the horse would live with us in Bethlehem in the Eastern Free State. If anyone knows of a horse like this that I can buy and take care of, please let me know.

************************************************* Hi Alan I would very much appreciate it if you could once again assist with putting the following advert in your newsletter. I have advertised just about everywhere and have had little response. I thought there would be lots of horse lovers out there who, in today’s financial climate, cannot afford to own their own horse or don’t want the responsibility of owning one and are looking to half bait instead. Anyway, here is the advert, please could you add it into the next newsletter? Many thanks. Marion Half bait – 16h liver chestnut thoroughbred. A real sweetheart and a perfect gentleman. Loves his jumping, needs help with his flat work. Hacks out alone, is calm in a group. He will not buck, rear or bolt but is fast when you want him to be. A weekday rider would be ideal to school, jump or just hack around the stunning outrides that Beaulieu and surrounding area have to offer. For someone with a more competitive edge, I can be flexible on weekend riding for shows etc. Office relocation makes it impossible for me to ride during the week. For more information please phone 082 526 4759. ************************************************* Hi Alan If you need any help mail alan@honystable.com
Alan's 5 cents Take on: Why is it that we do not have time to do a good thing for free, but can find the time to help if there is something in it for “” ME””?? I find this to be more so now than say 5 years back. We all know that the cost to live is getting out of hand, but why can we not just take a little time out to do a good thing for anyone at any time?? That is my 5 cents for this week. E-mail alan@honystable.com with any comments.
